  1. The integrated Express edition is actually very valuable, especially the full support for xmldoc tags in the Preview mode which will benefit our customers.

However, this version doesn’t support all rich-formatting tags in design mode, including bold, italic, underline, note, code snippets, exceptions, etc. In addition, many advanced features in V2.x will also be available only in the Professional/Enterprise versions.

  2. Using version 1.4.1 of Document Insight, Windows 7 (32bit) shows an dialog, that the BDS.exe is crashing (some seconds after closing the IDE)
The position inside the IDE will not be stored (and not be restored after
the restart). With the old version (1.3.1) there were no problems.

    1. Hi, Thomas,

      1. Is Documentation Insight still functional but only raise such an exception when closing the IDE?
      2. Is this always occurred? What if you you open an ide and close it without openning any project?
      3. What was the status of the Documentation Window (Visible, Dockable) when you close the IDE?

Please tell us your Delphi Version, IE Version, Thanks. Error message/snapshot will be grateful.

  3. Hallo Paul,
@1: Yes, Plugin is working, but raise an exception when Closing IDE
@2: Without Docking the Documentation Insight somewhere and Saving the IDE Desctop, no exception will be raised. To open a project is possible,
to run Documentation Insight too, but as soon I want to store the position, the problem occurs.
@3: Problem occurs when the Ducumentation Windows is docked. Windows 7,
IE 9.0; German Windows; Delphi 2007: Without Exception Message, but position will not be restored; Delphi 2010: With Exception (raised be windows)

  4. Hello Paul,

as I already mentioned, the were no problems with version 1.3.1. The following add-ons/wizards are installed: Visual Forms 2.1; ResEd(Project Resource Editor); There is a private one – I named it “BabelFish” – it’s for translation from one language into an other using a web service – but that is private stuff, and it never runs into exceptions until now. And there is also Jedi installed and DDevExtentions 2.5 and IDEFixPack 4.4

    Hope this helps…

  5. I also see the exception on every shutdown of the IDE since I installed this build 1.4.1. It happens with XE and XE2 and I have removed the bundled XE2 version. The only common XE2 IDE add-in I have with those on Paul’s list is JCL. When I first installed XE2 and DI, I do not remember having the exceptions. I subsequently added JCL and MMX. In XE, the exceptions started as soon as I upgraded DI to 1.4.1. In this case JCL and MMX were already installed (and some others).

    1. Hi, by the buil-in DocInsight, did you mean Documentation Insight Express? All Express editions are 2.x and distributed with RAD Studio.

Our latest version of Documentation Insight V2.x (Both Professional/Enterprise) includes all updates for D7, 2006-XE4.

          1. Somehow it wasn’t installed by default with Delphi XE4, probably a disk space issue (the Delphi Installaware based installer vastly underestimated the disk space required to install).

Luckily I found the unpacked installer for, so I could manually rerun it from here (note this is for Delphi XE4):

            `C:\ProgramData\{857B0D11-62C8-4FE0-B933-B80313FE43AD}\docinsight installer\mFileBagIDE.dll\bag\DevJET_DI_Setup_Express.exe`

            Now it works. Thanks!
